Incorporated in 1999, as an urban micro-finance center in 1999, the company operated as a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) from 2008 to 2017. It received the Small Finance Bank (SFB) license in 2017 and started operations as a scheduled commercial bank in 2019.

The company has the second-most geographically diversified portfolio with a pan-India presence among major SFBs (FY20) and a secured portfolio of loans including housing, LAP, MSME, and 2W loans contributing ~55% of the AUM, along with an MFI contribution of 35% (positioned to target rural India).
